  1. What is AOL® Instant MessengerTM (AIM®)?

    The AIM® service lets you send and receive instant messages from your wireless phone to anyone with an AIM compatible screen name whether they are on a PC or another wireless phone. This service is now available to all Verizon Wireless subscribers who have the following:

    • An AOL, AIM, Netscape® or Compuserve® 2000 screen name
    • Text messaging service from Verizon Wireless
    • Wireless phone that supports both 2-way text messaging and AIM service

    Features also include viewing your Buddy List® and receiving alerts when buddies sign on. There is no extra fee to use the AIM service, and you will not be charged airtime while using AIM. However, you will be billed per message according to your Calling Plan or Text Messaging plan. AIM works the same way as text messaging. However, instead of a phone number or email address, you send the text message to a unique Instant Message (IM) number assigned by Verizon Wireless. IM numbers are like phone numbers but are 4-digits in length instead of 10 (e.g. 4646). IM numbers are assigned to each AIM command and screen name in your Buddy List feature.   2. What is Yahoo!® Messenger?

    Yahoo!® Messenger lets you send and receive instant messages from your wireless phone to anyone with a Yahoo! ID, whether they are on a PC or another wireless phone. This service is now available to all Verizon Wireless subscribers who have the following:

    • A Yahoo! ID
    • Text messaging service from Verizon Wireless
    • Wireless phone that supports both 2-way text messaging and Yahoo! Messenger

    Features include viewing your Messenger List and receiving alerts when contacts sign on. There is no extra fee to use Yahoo! Messenger, and you will not be charged airtime while using Yahoo! Messenger. However, you will be billed per message according to your price plan. Yahoo! Messenger works the same way as text messaging. However, instead of a phone number or email address, you send the text message to a unique Friend Code assigned by Verizon Wireless. Friend Codes are like phone numbers but are 3-digits in length instead of 10 (e.g. 101). Friend Codes are assigned to each Yahoo! Messenger command and Yahoo! ID in your Messenger List.     MSN® Messenger lets you send and receive messages from your wireless phone to anyone with an email address registered with MSN Messenger whether they are on a PC or another wireless phone. This service is now available to all Verizon Wireless subscribers who have the following: is a subscription to Mobile Web required to use this? If so, please clarify.

    • An email address registered with MSN Messenger
